I use this drive (300gb) purely as a storage drive. No program files, or windows XP files are connected to it. While using computer (internet browsing and a computer game) the system suddenly freezes. It doesn't go into blue screen and I have to manually reboot. Upon reboot, Windows gets to the blue bar loading screen and then automatically reboots itself. I disconnected the drive's SATA connector (one that goes to the motherboard) and it still reboots on that screen. Only with the power connector from the power supply out, will Windows load up.

I tried this drive on three different systems, same results.

My system specs:
Athlon64 3500+ Newcastle
Asus A8V Deluxe VIA chipset motherboard
7200.9 300gb SATA2 harddrive
two 80gb 7200.7 SATA harddrives

You might try Seatools (FREE tool downloadable from Seagates website) and carry out diagnostics on the drive.
