Can anyone comment on the below. I have done some cluster migrations before, but it has been a while if i am honest, and the last time i added element to a cluster already sharing via SDS, they were blank controllers, as i was migrating users from older platforms on to the new controllers, so nothing was on them they could be overwritten, and belive i used repair option to write FAC/COR/COS options to the new controllers without fear of loosing anything i did not want too.
The comments make me nervous below, which i have copied from ESM help, in as much as i am setting up SDS for a cluster, with 8 controllers, and will obviously need to start sharing and then sync, but i think i am confusing myself with the options below on sync options, as both seem to say they will overwrite the user configuration, which in my situation would be disasterous, as each controller has its own valid user and device database, and this needs to be preserved, i just want to start sharing to migrate to RDN/GDM model. In the past i am sure i have selected migration, but can anyone confirm this is the correct method to use when sync'ing between controllers that already have user and devices programmed on them, as i dont want to wipe anything out, just sync databases and enable SDS in prep for migration.
Below from ESM Help.
Thanks.
Select the Synchronization Option:
Data Migration: Select this option if you are migrating 3300 ICP Release 6.x SDS-enabled systems to 3300 ICP Release 7.x software or later. A Data Migrate operation synchronizes the system data from the master controller to the slave controllers with the data overwrite and merge options set to the recommended defaults.
Data Repair: Select this option to repair data on a slave controller. The Data Repair operation overwrites all the shared data, including the user and device data, on the slave controller with the shared data from the master controller.
