We have been averaging 1 out of every 10 SDLT tapes being marked as poor by DataProtector.
I switches tapes from DELL to SONY, but it did not make a difference.
I also re-init the tapes after being marked as poor (and when they go into the scratch pool). They always go back to being marked as poor.
I would like to believe it is the Hardware. The Libraries are in two different states, but are both StorageWorks 8/1 SDLT Libraries.
Has anyone else have any problems with their tapes being marked as poor? Could it be that DataProtector is more sensitive then other backup products?
Yes, we are looking into other form factors, maybe LTO. Any suggestions....
