Hello,

I have STK L700e autochanger with Quantum SDLT220 drives. Does somebody knows what characters must be included in barcode label for SDLT cleaning tapes. AFAIK 'CLNnnn' is reserved for DLT cleaning tapes. I tried that and i got error message like 'incompatible media type'. Thanks.

Sounds like NetWorker is trying to use the cleaning tape to write data to.

For a cleaning tape, NetWorker doesn't care what the label is. You tell NetWorker what slot the cleaning is located.

Did you set up the autochanger auto cleaning=yes and the cleaning slot is the slot that the cleaning tape is in?

I have 3 backup systems based on NetWorker. 2 old autochangers with DLT tapes and new one with SDLT tapes. I think that my configuration is good (Auto clean=Yes, Cleaning slots configured, etc.). My 2 old DLT autochangers have a DLT cleaning tapes with 'CLNxxx' labels and everything works fine.

On my new STK autochanger NetWorker recognizes SDLT cleaning tapes (labeled 'CLNxxx') but I can't mount them into drive. I got 'nsrd: Jukebox 'L700e' failed: Illegal Request, Incompatible Medium Installed' error message.

You don't use the mount operation to load a cleaning tape into a drive. Instead, you go into your device configuration, and set cleaning required="yes". Once you click apply or ok, then it will get the cleaning tape and clean your drive.

As I said, NetWorker doesn't care what label you have on the cleaning tape. It is the jukebox that reads the label and reports back to NetWorker during an inventory what it has. All NetWorker has to know is what slot it is in, and how many uses it has (20 by default).
