SDI Ports locking Up

I recently took over a Opt 61 that I found the J21 cables off the cores going directly to an A/B box hooked to the maintiance terminal. The problem I'm having is when I print out a long list (TNB or DNB) it locks up the port and gives me an error code 80 on the CP card and references 0. I don't completely understand why the overflow locks up the port. I was hoping someone could explain it so that I could understand what actually causes the lockup. I am planning on changing out the J21s and running them to a modem and changing the Maint term to a regular SDI port off the paddle board. Oh and the only way to get the port back so far has been to INI.
Thanks for the info,
Woodro

The speed is to high for the printer to print the info and you get a buffer overflow. the way I've fixed this is to lower the printer and port speed or use a computer with Procomm to collect the info from the port and then I can print it later.

Had this problem too, once.

Think of it as,

The baud rate for the printer is not fast enough to get the data, if you use an okdata dot matrix, probably not printing fast enough. They make dot matrix printers that are faster, and have memory buffers, but they are expensive.

Try the ProComm path. It easier.
