I have upgraded AIX to from 5.3 to 6.1 on a p5-595 with DS8300.
Every things work fine BUT :
Replaced the sdd driver and installed the newest 2105 driver on the machine....
But it looks like for every time the sddsrv does he's scan he write a entry in wtmp ??
I can only see it with 'tail -f wtmp | strings' - but nothing with the cmd 'last'
It happens every 1-2 sec. !!!
The damed file (wtmp) grows very fast !!!

Anyone know what is going on, or what could be wrong ?

Regards

If it's a DS8300 you are connected to, I think you need the 2107 drivers (devices.fcp.disk.ibm.rte). The sdd driver would be devices.sdd.61.rte. The filesets are what I am running on my AIX 6.1 server.

devices.sdd.61.rte 1.7.2.0 COMMITTED IBM Subsystem Device Driver

devices.fcp.disk.ibm.rte 1.0.0.12 COMMITTED IBM FCP Disk Device

It may have nothing to do with it but just noticed you mentioned the 2105 drivers. Just my quick thoughts.

Can you provide us what you are seeing in the wtmp file?

Hey Juredd1 (and any one else )
Thanks and yes I have the 2107 drivers installed - sorry
devices.sdd.61.rte 1.7.2.5
devices.fcp.disk.ibm.rte 1.0.0.12

I kan see the string "ssdsrv" listing, if I use the cmd mentioned : "tail -f wtmp | strings"
And using the cmd "//usr/sbin/acct/fwtmp < /var/adm/wtmp" list a lot of sddsrv entry in the wtmp file.
4809 for one day !!!

I will try to put a example from fwtmp later....

/Jesper
