SD-RAM vs DDR-RAM

I just bought a video card from PNY called the verto GeForce4 mx420 It has 64 megs of sd ram but there is a modle that is just a little bit more that has 64 megs of ddr ram pc2100 i was wondering if i should go through the trouble of talking my parents into taking the other card back and getting the other one, becasue so far there saying no, anything you have to say would be apreciated, thanks

Well, you prolly have to live with it for a while. However, with today's games, the GPU can easily handle all that is out there and the memory doesn't play that big a role except in high powered benchmarking that you see on hardware sites. the bottom line is the card will do all you want to do (Serious Sam, Max Payne, etc.) very well for at least 2 years until DirectX 9 games become common. The card should be good enough. The interesting thing is that nvidia spcified the SDRAM on that model to lower the cost, but most card makers went for DDR-RAM cause it was just as cheap. You probably have one of only a few cards with SDRAM made by OEMs. It will be OK, I am sure. The most stressful game out there now is mercedes benz monster truck racing, and if you get 40-50 fps on that or max payne, you can play most games very well.
