Is ther any way to set this Merlin 820d2 back to factory default or is that always done once I shut down the power when the battery is not installed and awaiting a fresh battery?

I seem to be having trouble programming a System Speed Dial code. I am following the inst. given to me on this board. It worked before but now it won't.

Any problmes you have heard of with this before.

If you have no battery, or a DEAD battery, then YES, the little guy goes back to Factory defaults ony time it looses power.

In the "OLD DAYS", we would SHORT OUT THE BATTERY with a Paper Clip (THAT GOT VERY HOT IN THE PROCESS) to default the memory.

Could you go over the System Speed dial programing: I want to use system SD 999 to dial 474-1161 and to be placed on one of the buttons for one touch dialing to that SD number.

BTW can you tell me what the difference is between the Merlin 820 and the PLUS and LEGEND and so forth.

I will try again but I must have gone over the inst. at least 20 times yesterday and they would no longer work.

Here is the full instruction set:

PROGRAMMING:

Slide to T/P switch down to P
The phone will ring every 5 seconds to remind you that you are in programming mode.

Touch the Administration button or dial (#) (4) (9) for a Merlin Plus R2 (820D2).
Dial (# 60-89, #900-999) - just pick a number in thr range
Dial one of the following codes:
Dial *90 to assign the Speed Dial code.

For example, if you want the speed dial number to have the same restrictions as the actual telephone number, that is, call or toll restrictions still apply with this number, dial the System Speed Dial 3- character code (such as #67), *90, and then the telephone number.

Dial *92 to assign the Speed Dial code with Restriction override.

For example, if you want to assign a System Speed Dial code to a telephone number that anyone in the system can dial, regardless of any previously placed restrictions, dial the System Speed Dial 3-character code (such as #67), *92, and then the telephone number.

Dial the telephone number.
Touch the Administer button (#) (4) (9) for Merlin Plus R2.
Repeat steps 2 through 6 to enter more numbers.
When finished slide the T/P switch on the left hand side to the center position.

OW TO USE: To place a call by dialing a System Speed Dial code:

Thank you for the instructions again. The first time I did this the oterh day and assigned THAT system SD number to a button it worked just fine.

Yesterday and today i followed the same instructions and the thing started to assign outgoing lines to buttons were there are no lines connected.

Only teh Sprint Voice Mail message center number is going to be used in SD and assigned to a button. So I can't spend any more time on this. I simply assigned the number to a button sd follows:

P
Button
Number

I did this on each set and that is it for now. I am replacing the battery and have a UPS installed as well so the memory should last a good long time.

Thanks for the help. Perhaps when I have more time I can try to figure out what I might have done wrong.
