Currently experience multiple scsi timeouts running NBU 5.0
and a L700e storagetek. Drives are fibre attached.

Is there a setting in bp.conf that can increase timeout levels.

Fix the underlying hardware problem causing the scsi communication errors.

What type of tape drives are you using and how are they connected to the server?

Underlying hardware has been tested.

tapes are IBM lto2 firmware 327H

Cant help you unless you post how your drives are connected to the server.

Drives are connected via 2 GB fibre to Brocade 12000. Media Servers are also connected via 2GB Fibres to the Brocade.

Both tapes drives and server hba's are zoned by wwn.

Please let me know if this is the information required.

depending on the hba's, there could be timout settings that can be changed in its configurations. Also, check with both vendors of the switch and HBA. it could be a driver or compatability issue. we have had issues with Qlogic cards and our switches.

Will look into timeout settings - HBAs are emulex.

One thing to note is that out of six drives, two work perfectly, and 4 always timeout. A hardware engineer has examined the drives and no issue was found.

Seems a single drive has been at fault. Multiple tapes have been mounted into this drive which have become corrupted and then again mounted into other drives causing errors.

Will have the drive replaced and retest. Not conclusive.

Vendor has also suggested a timeout setting for Netbackup when running with Fibre connected drives. Need clarification.
