Hello everybody,

I just got a brand new p275 and wanted to install it with my 3 year old 4mm scsi tape, which I used last time to install a p630 without any problems.
The cfgmgr does not recognize the tape.
For a test a replaced it with my DLT IV tape and I got the same negative result.
The machine is preloaded with AIX 5.2 and has some scsi tape drivers on it.
Does somebody have an idea ?

Regards
Stefan

Hi,

If you don't have any hardware problems and you don't have scsi address conflicts and the drive is connected properly the cfgmgr command should work. Maybe you don't have the drivers but the cfgmgr -v command should tell you with drives you need. If you have the O.S. CDs put this in the cd drive and try cfgmgr -i device (device is your cd drive), the flag -i look for the drivers and automatically install it.

Also, You can try add the tape manually using "smit tape" and then "add tape drive" option.

I hope this help you. Bye.

Hello blasvinas,

thanks for your reply. The problem was that we had
#6204 SCSI Diff(erential). Adapter

and this is not compatible with the single ended scsi.

When you want to connect your old tapes to this machine you need the:
#6203 Ultra3 SCSI Adapter

There are no more scsi adapters on the backplane in the p275 and we thought the salesman knew what we need. I have learned another lesson

Best regards
Stefan
