Hello,
is it possible to use SCSI Raid and IDE Raid together in one computer? I've got a workstation with a Adaptec 29320-R and two SCSI 36 GB harddisks installed. The card is configured as RAID-1 (mirroring) and everything works fine.
Now I want to add two 250 GB IDE drives for backup purposes and I would like to use mirroring for these drives as well. The OS is Windows server 2003, so I can decide to use a software mirror, but I have the feeling that a hardware mirror is better and faster. So I want to add a Promise FastTrak TX2000 card (IDE Raid) and configure it as RAID-1.
The support department of Fasttrak says that it's not possible to install a IDE raid card into a system that has already a SCSI card installed. Is this true? Does anybody have experience with installing a IDE Raid and SCSI Raid in the same system?
Thanks for your help.
