Hey guys,
i just bought a 18.2 GB Seagate SCSI hard drive and it doesnt fit into my empty slot for my second hard drive The hard drive i bought has 6 prongs instead of 4 and the ribbon insert is on the opposite than my computer's Is there anything I can buy to make this new hard drive work? like a certain connector or something?

Thanks..

How about posting a model number so we can see what you have.
Sometimes you just have to get a longer SCSI cable in order to have enough room to twist the connector around. Sometimes you can reverse the cable since there is usually more distance between the 1st and 2nd connectors that way.
I'm assuming the prongs you are speaking of are the drive select jumper pins.

the model number is Model#: ST118273LC the hard drive is too big to fit in my empty hard drive space... what can i do ?

Only choice is to install it in a 5" slot with a HD 3 to 5 kit and extend the cables to reach it. Or replace the other drive with it and sling the old one underneath.

Your 6 prongs are additional drive ID pins.

Do a google search for seagate specs, enter the drive ID in and you'll have a picture.

where is the 5 inch slot and where can i buy a HD 3 to 5 kit? the hard drive is too big for the slot.... is it possible to put it somewhere else? and i also need a longer connector cable right?

Yes to cable.
5" slot is like the CD is mounted in. And we are hoping you have one.
3 to 5 kits come from computer stores. They are rails to fit on either side of a 3" drive and a front panel that fills the space where a 5" half height drive would go.
Without knowing your case space anything I would tell you would be a guess. You need to figure out where a 3" half height drive will fit. And then when you get it mounted you probably are going to work to find a cable that will reach it.
