Without warning (or are the scsi errors my warnings? ;-) I am getting SCSI errors during my backups, and now one of my tape drives is inaccessible.

I rebooted the Arcserver server, and Arcserve reports one of my 3 tape drives as "having trouble with the host interface." and it is no longer in my device group.

I have upgraded all of my scsi device drivers - did not fix my problems.

In fact, when I woke up this morning, the server had rebooted itself, and all of my slots are unmounted - they will not mount no matter what I do.

My NT 2k device manager is reporting each of the 3 tape drives as OK, but the arm is now listed as "unknown media changer." It is actually an ADIC scalar 100. The arm and 1 tape drive share a scsi card, the other 2 tape drives have their own scsi cards.

Server is ArcServe SP4, w/ qo20824 and q028915, and "Device SP" patches installed. Hardware is a Scalar 100 w/ 3 DLT4000 tape drives, and 50 slots. SCSI hardware is 2 Adaptec SCSI 29160 Cards each with a DLT8000 tape drive in it, and, 1 Compaq Wide Ultra3 SCSI (from adaptec) dual channel with the arm and a third DLT8000 tape drive.

I am waiting for ADIC support to return my call, but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions.

Arcserve uses its own set of drivers to deliver to tape devices, and as such the devices in WIndows must be disabled, do this, and then try using the device wizard to assign devices etc...

Then if I used Windows I may have hosed the CA drivers, right?

Is there an easy way to reinstall the drivers, without reinstalling all of ArcServe and SP4?
