SCSI Drive problem

Using WinXP,Atto dual chan adapter scsi II,Seagate cheetah scsi II 80pin,Icy Dock hot swap tray,adaptec LVD cable.When booting my seagate is being recogbized as a;DEC RZ2ED-LS(C).When I run my Atto tool in DOS I get the following error:
Command Status:0X04 SCSI Error Occured
SCSI Status:0X02 Check Condition
Sense Key:0X03 Medium Error
SEnse Code:0X31 ???
Seagate tools will not recognise this drive,is it possible DEC did a lo level wipe on this drive?Also,the adapter reported NO scsi before I josled the tray a bit could it be a backplane prob?the pins SEEM to be all the way in but I'm not sure.(disk spins up fine,id 0 and adapter id7)I also get Bios not loaded after going thru the adapter load process,I assume this is because of the HD prob?

I would also like to know;since the cheetah drive is being recognized as a DEC should I use ASPI or CAM?I have ASPI installed but not CAM.

Some drives by DEC used 1024 bytes/sector. You may need to low-level format the drive to get it work. Not sure about ATTO, Adaptec has a tools to low-level built-in to their BIOS.

At least its reading SOMETHING,I just cannot get into the drive to f/disk it.My Seagate tools seem to be useless.BTW,this is a used drive out of a server and I have no idea what OS was in use on it(probably just a storage drive my guess)

Any one who may come by this post and has problems with ANY device in a PC should not think twice and get a software prog called BUS HOUND.This is the quickest and most powerful utility I've ever used.You can control and repair anything in the pc with built in command codes,As you can see from above I had SERIOUS problems and this prog straightened it out in less than 5 minutes!!
