We currently have an NT server that is reporting
scsi controller error.

I have tryed to replace the scsi controller, but get
"Opperating system not found" when I tried to Boot

the current controller is aci78xx

and the replacement is a similar one but a newer model

Is it possible to change the controller??

I have tried inserting both cntrollers and NT boots, from the orignal controller and sees the new one.
so the driver appears to be working. Why can't I boot with
just the new controller installed??

Any help would be welcome?

I would assume that, even though the new card is similar, it is not identical - and therefore requires a new driver.

Fairly obviously, you cannot install the driver after booting into NT, because the NT loader requires access to the hardware in order to start the O/S.

Can you, after booting the system using the old card - with the new one in the machine - and load the most recent driver available from the manufacturer of your server in Control Panel > SCSI Adapters > Drivers?

Are you then able to boot the machine, after swapping the cables around to the new card?
