Hi,

NBU 4.5 MP6, HP-UX 11.nn SSO

STK L180's, 6 LTO1 drives, HP Surestore Bridges between SAN and drives.

In all my media server bptm logs I regularly get the following when running backup and duplications.

get_tape_position_for_read: cannot read tape position, read_position scsi command failed, key = 0x0, asc = 0x0, ascq = 0x0
io_terminate_tape: cannot read position on drive index 0, read_position scsi command failed, key = 0x0, asc = 0x0, ascq = 0x0
io_terminate_tape: cannot read position on drive index 2, read_position scsi command failed, key = 0x0, asc = 0x0, ascq = 0x0
io_terminate_tape: cannot read position on drive index 3, read_position scsi command failed, key = 0x0, asc = 0x0, ascq = 0x0
write_data: cannot read position on drive index 0, read_position scsi command failed, key = 0x0, asc = 0x0, ascq = 0x0
write_data: cannot read position on drive index 2, read_position scsi command failed, key = 0x0, asc = 0x0, ascq = 0x0
write_data: cannot read position on drive index 3, read_position scsi command failed, key = 0x0, asc = 0x0, ascq = 0x0

The backups / duplications work most of the time, but I do get occasional read / write / position errors.

Subsequent reruns work however.

Drives are mapped correctly, and pass thru drivers correct.

Any pointers or help would be appreciated.

Thanks - Darren

I have ran into simular issues. I upgraded the firmware on my Brigdes and all was fine from there.

Thanks comtec17, I will look into the firmware revisions.
