I'm piecing together a new machine...was given a mobo bought an athlon 2800 for it, and I'm thinking about my hdd's.

I've got a SCSI 3 Ultra2 wide LVD controller, a DVD-RAM, and CDRW SCSI drive, and a 9gb hdd for it, but I obviously need more space. But I don't need tons of it at this point.

I see 50Gb 10k drives for about $40-$50 on ebay that will work in my system, but are these drives going to be faster than say the 7200 rpm 120Gb ATA 133 drive for $60 after rebates from Circuit City this week?

I'm more interested in a speedy drive than the space, which is faster?

I just looked at some Maxtor 120GB ATA 133 hard drives. you can get them in 5400 and 7200 rpm. I would say for the price I would go with the 120GB. ATA 133.
