Hi - I want to make a scrolling text marquee that works in netscape, but it only seems to work in Internet explorer.
Why?
I also want to put the marquee in the bottom bar of the browser, the place where when you click for a website it says "opening page......" - How do you do that?
TIA

Because netscape sucks! Just kidding, I dunno. Where's the page, I'll take a look. Is it javascript? Are you talking a scrolling marque in the status bar?

If you gave an infinate number of rednecks, an infinate number of shotguns to shoot at an infinate number of street signs, they would eventually write Romeo and Juliet in braille.

The Marquee tag is not in the standard html 4.0
For some reason IE (and opera i think) support marquee even though it isn't html correct.
Netscape does not support marquee probably because it isn't a valid html tag. That being said, netscape support the blink tag, (i dont think any other browser does other than them) and the blink tag isn't a valid html tag either.

There are a lot of compatability issues with Netscape. A lot of stuff doesn't work or doesn't work right with it. You can change the compatability in FrontPage for both IE and Netscape, but what this does is grays out a lot of options--and still doesn't fix some of the compatability problems!

Your best bet is to use a java applet that does the same thing. While it won't work with older browsers, it should work fine for nearly everyone. You can find some applets at Linda Adams (Garridon@aol.com)

I think you mean the status bar. It's not a good idea userwise to clutter this up with a marquee. People like to be able to check what is loading or what a link is easily without having to look at the source or properites.

Also you might consider having a upwards marquee scroll it looks much more classy and less irritating to users.

You will have to get a third party marquee to cover both browsers.
