scrolling text in a movieclip 1

okay,

here's a question

why can't I bring a text file into a text box within a movie clip.

I've try:
loadVariablesNum ("who_text.html", 0);

which works just find within a movie but not once I place the textbox inside a movie clip???

why???

and I forgetting something

okay gues I got the html file insert in to the textbox but now my buttons won't work.

do they need to be outside the movie clip and use tell target...the level stuff is confussing me

Why are you trying to load this on a level rather than in a target clip?
A link to something?

seem any code placed on a button with in a movie clip isn't seen by the main movie (level 0)

right

What are you trying to do here?
Looked at your .fla and still don't get it!
In simple words...
Are you just trying to load a text file (and not an html!) in a scrollbox located whithin a particular mc and not in the main movie? If so where do you want to control it from? From the main movie or from that mc, or from both?
Waiting for your answer!

Well thanks Carl! I was precisely working on that same example (hope you don't mind!), but added two scroll buttons on the main timeline.
The scroll box can be controlled from the mc which holds it, or from the main movie... And hell! I could even have it controlled from a mc containing another mc containing another mc on another level holding another mc (guess by now you get the picture!) which would hold the buttons!

don't mind at all..and by the way man it seems as of lately you are getting down and dirty with most questions asked..meaning; that you are tackling them all and getting results..you know like when micheal jordan is in a zone on the court..seems like you are in a "flash zone" so to speak!! must be nice!!

Hey guys I was out yesterday...my pc crashed and I had to rebuild it...thanks god for backups


your buttons controlling the scroll box within the movie clip is just waht I'm looking for.

see I want to be able to use the one mc as a templte to bring html content into it on different sences.
