Scrolling switch from Vertical to Horizontal

I wasn't sure where to post this. This has been going on for quite some time but In Access and Excel 2003 something is causing the Scroll to switch from Vertical to Horizontal. I did not have this issue in VB6 but since I have installed VS2008 it started doing it in '08 as well. Actually the scroll did not even work in VB6 until I updated the mouse and drivers. And also not on all tab just the ones in VS2008 it feels like it needs to. I never scroll horizontal without going directly to the Horizontal scrollbar. I can close the application and open it back up and all is well. I also have colleagues that are having the same problem. Is anybody out there having the same problem and is there a solution? I am using XP3. I have not tried this on Vista Ultimate 64 at home yet but since I have not heard much about this I bet that it will still be a problem. As always it is probably just a setting somewhere.

Are you scrolling with the scroll wheel? Assuming so, are you using a Microsoft mouse with Intellipoint drivers (which have always had problems, at least, and ironically, with Microsoft applications)?

Yes with the mouse wheel with a MS mouse and intellipoint drivers. And not all MS mice work with the intellipoint drivers. Oh well, I was hoping something or someone would have fixed this annoyance by now. As big a part of the GUI scrolling is, Ya' know.
