Hello all.

Can anyone offer help on the following:

My new notebook comp. is painful to look at when I scroll, or pan anything. As soon as there is movement on screen, there is flicker and it's driving me nuts, not to mention the headaches.

It's especially bad while on the web, with white backgrounds, and less bad while in MS Word, with the white background.

The following have not helped:

-adjusting the refresh rate
-changing the display resolution
- reducing the color setting from 32 to 16 million

The graphics card is ATI Mobility FireGL5000 - not too shabby!

There - it's happening right now...

Please help.

Recommend that it be replaced under warranty.

It turns out two other people in our office have the same issue on their HP laptop, but they hadn't noticed!

I hooked up my home LCD monitor (with a 3ms response time) and it works like a dream - quick, sharp.

I guess it's just the display on the laptop that has a slow response time.

The work-around is:
Don't scroll too slowly, so my eyes don't try to follow the flickering text!

The laptop's screen may be defective. Still recommend that it be replaced under warranty, or at least discuss the problem with the supplier.
