Hello again, sorry to be back so soon. Here's all I want to do - add a scollbar to my background bitmap layer (stage) in flash mx. I'll be adding a layer of text above this (not dynamic text, more like another bitmap - I need the text floating as there will be things occuring beneath the text but above the background). The reader scrolls (reads text) down the "page" (most pages, to be seen and read easily, will not fit on computer monitor screen so will need to scroll), finishes reading, clicks on to the next page.

I gone through countless tutorials and they all talk about dynamic this, dynamic that, when all I want to do is just scroll the background, the bitmap, (and thus text and any flash bells and whistles riding above it).

I even tried the scrollpane, tried transforming it to the width and height of the stage, assuming then i could lay down layers above it, lock the whole mess in place, run the movie...didn't seem to work.

Also I don't want to use the brower's scrollbar because I want the flash movie to blow out the browser window when in play- but the browser scrollbar concept is exactly what i need!

This has to be easy, i'm just too stupid to see it.

Any help, greatly appreciated - perhaps you know where the tutorial is I need?. And please keep it all simple as i'm mostly ignorant in flash mx.
thanks
Hoss

put the background in the scrollpane. make the text scroll with the scrollpane scroll event. are you using flash 6 or flash 7?

Hey philip;
Thanks for answering. I wasn't recieving any kind of response to this question here, so i went searching elsewhere and found some script that may be the solution. If you're reading this, could i ask you to look at my latest post about test movie chopping my head off. Any help there would be great.
thank you
Hoss
