scroller xml

I'm creating a text window with a scroll bar in flash. The text is coming from an xml file. On some pages there is lots of text and other pages there is only a little.

Is there anyway the code can detect how much text that is being displayed so that the scroller only shows if there it too much text for the text box?

I think I answered my own question again. I just changed the color of the arrows to match the background. When there isn't enough text for the scroller you don't see anything.
