I recently installed a shareware scroller Java applet (VScroller, found in Javaboutique.com).The scroller was working admirably until some complaints arose. It seems that, (and I'm making a supposition here based on the facts that I received), if there are ActiveX components operating in the system (Active Desktop in Windows98, Outlook, etc.) the scrollbox suddenly begins to appear randomly on the screen, even in the task bar.The only way to clear the problem is to close out the browser.
The browser (mostly IE5 and IE5.5) need not currently be displaying the page which had the applet. It only had to have loaded the page at one time.In fact, I experienced that very phenomenon myself.
I e-mailed the author of the applet, and he responded that he had not received any complaints prior to mine.
Has anyone heard of similar problems with applets and ActiveX components? And, is it something that can be corrected?
