scrollable map/inserting dynamic icons-links

I doing a web camera map for our construction area and need to create a scrollable/zoomable map that I can dynamic insert buttons/links on top of to show where the cameras are currently located. I already have a scrollable/zoomable map but how would I dynamically insert icons/links on top of the map using cold fusion and sql?

Any tutorials I could you as a guide?

Thanks Sharky but my main problem is how to display icons on a map using specific x,y coordinates pulled from a database. Do you have an example or something like it?
