Hi,

I'm encountering some problems with my scripts used by savepnpc. If I'm running another script within the precmd script, it never comes back and the backup will not run. Using an "at now" works, but doesn't satisfy my needings. Are there any examples you could send me or at least some hints how to get around that?

Thanks for your help.

Hey,

I've seen res files with anything out of the ordinary act weird. I would try creating another res file from scratch, and run it again. Here are the contents of one of my res files.

Good Luck!
-ag100

type: savepnpc;
precmd: "/nsr/cmds/nsr_pre";
pstcmd: "/nsr/cmds/nsr_post", "/bin/sleep 5";
timeout: "11:00am";

On windows you need to pu double "\" around directories, (\\temp\\test\\batchfile). I'm not sure this is the case for Unix but it can be worh a try.

cptb - On UNIX you surely do not need any double \\. The " do the job.

forceload - Have you checked your start and stop scripts? Do they run from the commandline? If yes, then you should propably check, if all commands are given absolute paths, because savepnpc starts the scripts as root but completely without environment. i.e. no PATH no environment variables are set.

Have fun...

Thanks for your help.
I got the precmd script working now returning to do the backup. Unfortunately it doesn't walk trhough the postcmd part anymore (doing a unmount etc.), so that I raised a ticket.
(The group control details say:

... has been inactive for 33 minutes...
... is being abandoned by nsrexec.
... save abandoned
)

BUT: at this poing it is doing the unmount anyway. Very weird...

Any suggestions ?
