When using an action to do a simple thing like save a file as an eps file, the action remembers the name of the file that I used to record the actions in the first place. So, when I run the action, all files that I run it on are saved as the exact same name (test.ai, for example). Photoshop just remembers the settings and as long as you don't type anything in the filename field and leave it as the default, it keeps the original name of each file and just changes the extension.
Is there a way around this using actions? Or do I have to somehow use Illustrator's scripting capabilities to do this? If that is the case, has anyone done this or anything like this? I haven't written a script yet but feel comfortable in doing so, if need be.
I have both Mac & PC.
