I have my site with my c.v. on it and I have each part of my c.v. (education, experience, etc), load onto the main movie from an external .swf. However, after my last 'lesson' here thanks to Firegambler, I am beginning to see that my mc's might be too 'busy' in that they use us too memory and could be more easily scripted.

In this page you can see how it functions. For those parts of my c.v. where I have more than a page, I have a button which scrolls down. These are my problems:

1. How do I make the button scroll up (I tried that for a long time and could not make this work).

2. How do I make the update of my c.v. easier so that I don't have to constantly redo each page (ie. if you note in the "experience.fla" I have a tween to make the entire page move up, but if I make that image longer by adding new entries, I have to redo the tween. Is there an easier way to do this?

here is the main fla.:

and for an example of one of the parts that load into it where the scrolling occurs:

any and all help is greatly appreciated...

Your links are dead... For the moment at least!

And are you now on MX or still on Flash 5?

first of all i would keep all text in external text files to allow for easy update. this will also make the scrolling problem go away as you are not messing with movie clips.

you then only require 1 dynamic text box on stage with a scrollbar into which the relevant text is loaded depending on user action (button click). and of course only 1 fla.
a very small file as it only contains your menu and a textbox.

do you have mx ?

Ça fonctionne maintenant! Et si je comprends bien, vous êtes présentement à Montréal?

ok, here comes my ignorance...what is an mx? i am very self-taught in this an on an italian version i bought two years ago....

et oui je suis a montreal...toi aussi?

If this is the same version you've been using for all the months you've been around this forum, then you most probably have still have Flash 5. Flash MX is the latest version, in which you could find scrolling components, and new functions to simplify updating your files. But this is also possible with Flash 5!

Oui je suis à Montréal, en fait, plus précisement sur la Rive Sud, à 50km du centre-ville.
