I am pretty good with the Cognos suite, but need to get into scripting. In there any good source of info to get me started? I've read most of the pdf help files, but they are more of a reference than a manual.
The on-line help files serve as a kind of 'tool kit' of what is available within the Cognos macro language, both internally and via OLE calls to Impromptu and Powerplay. While useful, it can be difficult to know where to start. I've written a FAQ here, accessible under the FAQ tab, that tries to help people get started with the language by providing function examples of what you can accomplish, not necessarily the code to achieve them.
The philosophy at Tek-Tips is to share information and build skills. For most purposes that means that complete macros are rarely posted. Rather the members will offer suggestions on techniques to achieve goals consistent with the amount of effort the poster has taken to explore the resources available.
I'd suggest a write-up on the particular tasks you are attempting and a list of what you can find on your own regarding the language you would use to achieve it. That way other members can help you based on where your understanding is rather than trying to cover all the possibilities.
Good luck.

I use Transformer extensively (all my Impromtu reports are very basic- I do all the hard work in TR)then make "pretty" reports in PP, and want to automate some work. I use schedular at night, but need to dump some reports (pdf, excel, and html) to our intranet, which I now do manually.
I'm using Cognos 6 (I am drooling at version 7, but that's going to happen here for a while)
