Script to install network printer

Hello, I have an interesting question pertaining to installing printers via a internal web page.

If I open up internet explorer and I type the UNC path for a printer (i.e. \\servername\printername), it will ask me to install it if not already installed.

I would like to add this to an informational web page I am building. So far, I can not get it to work via a web page. All I get is a message saying "page cannot be displayed"

Can someone lend some advice on this?

what is the value of allow_url_fopen in your php.ini file?

does the php user (iusr_ on win, normally) have access rights to the printer in active directory ( am assuming
windows here...)
