Hi guy's and girls,

1st time post so please be kind.

I have just been told by my boss that we have to change all the Display names in the Exchange Global Address list to show the surname and then firstname, but the surname has to be in caps.
Has anyone got any ideas on how this can be done, I am not very good a programming hence the question.

Thanks
dave

Have a look at the UCase function.

Hope This Helps, PH.

I struggle to understand what motivates people to come up with requirements like this.

Anyway, let's get some info that we need first: which version of Exchange Server?

Thanks for the quick replies.

Running Windows 2003 with Exchange 2003.

Weird. I swear I posted a reply to this yesterday. How odd.

OK, well if you hadn't got the uppercase requirement I'd have pointed you at ADModify.Net which is a tool that allows batch udating of AD properties (some guidance on it's use here and, more generally, here). The advantage of using this tool over the normally advised registry edit (as per here) is that it affects existing users as well as new users; the registry edit only affects new users.

However, neither technique will do capitals for you. For that you need a script. The registry edit link above contains a further link to this scripting example.
