Hello everyone. I have a question/problem. I am trying to find a VB script that will start a service in a Windows environment. The server is a: Windows Server 2003 Service Edition Service Pack 2.

The service that continues to die and requires a manual restart is: PureActiv Video Processor

I would like a script that will email me and my group every time it dies. Any chances you can assist me?

I don't know if you need this information but I'll give it to you:

"C:\Program Files\PureTech Systems\PureActivDAQServices\Pure.PureLink.VideoProcessor.VideoProcessorService.exe"

Thanks in advance,

In Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services

choose your service, right click on it, choose Recovery.
You can tell it to restart automatically on (which will do it without notifying you and your colleagues) or to run a program.
To send an email through vbscript, you need code such as that at and an SMTP server available.

Write the script, run it manually to check that it works, then set it as the run program, and also add code such as:

to the end to force the service to restart.

Of course, why not investigate what causes it to stop working in the first place?

John
