What is the consequence of not enclosing commands such as AGE OF CALL in brackets?

E.G. IF (AGE OF CALL > 180) THEN......

The script will validate quite happily whether the brackets are included or not.

In your example, nothing really. It's the same premise as a mathematical equation; whatever's inside the parentheses is evaluated first. If you have a compound statement, then using parentheses becomes important. Otherwise, a statement might not be executed consistently the same way.

ditto, I use parentheses more for appearance and readability. The software follows rules to define the order functions are executed.

Only in rare cases have I used complex math functions where parentheses were really needed.
