Hi,
I have the following problem
If the Gnome desktop session is locked (manually or automatically) then it can not be unlocked and laptop has to be powered off. Can anyone help me in order to solve the problem.

I have seen remedies for this problem all over the web. One solution is to modify the passwd entry in /etc/nsswitch.conf placing files nis prior to the compat entry. If you read the man pages on nsswitch, it states that compat should be the only entry if used. I also went to sunsolve and read about patches that may correct your problem. You best bet is to go to register as a user and search their knowledgebase.
