I have this issue on MCD5.0. I have tested in two diferents controllers with V5.0 and doesn't work. He show me always the mitel logo. I use the Application Builder.
depending what you used to 'build' the screensaver, you would need an html app licenses for the phone. the html 1 toolkit I think allowed you to upload and use screensavers with no license. anything created with html 2 toolkit requires html app licenses for the phones
I am confident that if you were to post step by step instructions on how to upload Screensavers to a 5360 that you would get numerous Stars. If that sort of thing appeals to your better nature, please give us what you have.

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.
Ok here goes HTML toolkit 2.2 is good.
MCD 5.0 is Good - no licenses required.
5360 ,5330,5340,5320 are good (5360 look best because of the color)
I will cover 5360 as other phones dont look great unless image is pure black and white
For 5360 - create png or jpg images (3) 800x400 pixels
When the HTML toolkit is loaded a folder should be created containing some samples
This is Win7 path
C:\Users\Public\Mitel\HTMLToolKit\DeveloperResources
In this folder are various examples of HTML tools I normally use Scrensavers in this subfolder
C:\Users\Public\Mitel\HTMLToolKit\DeveloperResources\Sample Applications\Screen Saver Application I make a copy of the 5360 folder , change files to readwrite
,Paste my new image files into this folder, delete any unwanted files (old jog and pdf),edit the manifest.xml file with notepad to change the Screensaver name eg <name>Screen5360</name>.
edit the screensaver.html file to match the image names
in this line var images = [ "Mitel_Web_Brand.JPG", "Mitel_Web_Brand2.JPG", "Mitel_Web_Brand3.JPG" ];
and also to change the clock color #FFFFFF is white text #000000 is black
Run the HTML Toolkit Packager and browse for this folder
Clieck on Generatre and enter the password Mitel Licensed Applications
Run the Toolkit Uploader , edit the Target - set as switch - put IP address and username from MCD and save.
Select the file created above and upload with HTMLapp upgrade
In MCD find appropriate user and under Phone applications Screen saver application the newly created Screen5360 should be able to be selected.
I did that without moving my lips, wheres my stars...lol
The only issues I ran in to were that when you save a jpg in windows the extension given to the file is in lowercase (from memory, may have this back to front) and the sample script as shown in above post has uppercase. The File Extension IS case sensitive, When I got this right it worked as per documentation.
