On an NT domain, we have an NT Workstation that sits in the library and only one user account is used to work on it. Most everyone on this network are using Roaming Profiles, but not with this account. It has a LOCAL profile on this machine. When I set the screen saver, it works, but when that account logs off, and logs back on, the machine is set to <NONE> on the screen saver. Why won't the setting stick? It's not System Policies and its not a mandatory profile.

Thanks-

The first thing I would look at is anything that might change the registry at shutdown or startup, like login scripts or third party applications on shutdown. Is it possible that the user login profile is not retained? There are multiple ways to keep a profile from sticking, so I won't go into that. The most probable way to fix your problem is to change the default profile screen saver in the registry. Here is the key. . .

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\desktop\SCRNSAVE.EXE=[name and path of .scr file]

the SCRNSAVE.EXE is a string value.

If you change this key, ANY user who logs on without a pre-existing profile will have the screensaver you pick.

I hope this helps :)
