screensaver freeze ups

It's a siily but annoying problem, when I go to load a screensaver, in some cases I only get a picture of a desk top.On the other hand, if I load what they call ( flying objects ) the picture will load but stays in a freeze up mode. Hope someone can help. Thanks so much

have you checked error log? check your event id with
