I have a ATI All-in-Wonder video card, Sony CPD-E500 monitor, and running Windows 2k Pro for an OS.

My question is that if I set the Hardware Acceleration to "Full", my screen often freezes, and I have to push the reset button to get the system to reboot.

Occasionally I will get another error message from the monitor that says "out of scan range 15.7khz/17Hz"

Can anybody tell me how to correct this? Thanks in advance.

I don't know if it will help, but try lowering the "refresh rate" for your monitor. Typically on newer monitors, you should easily be able to use 75 Hz at resolutions less than 1280 x 1024. I've found that after installing video drivers, Win2K likes to set this refresh rate to 100 Hz which might explain why you're having issues.

Also ............
it's well known that ATI drivers are poor, and cause problems by being out of date, and poorly written.

However,,,,,,, you should have the latest drivers, to eliminate problems with the Older drivers.... they do get somewhat better.

>> First,,,,, update your Win2K to the LATEST version of DirectX 8 that is available SPECIFICALLY for Win2K.
Make sure you get the right one.

THEN: Go to ATI's website and get the latest drivers for your video card. Install those.

I'm sure you will notice some performance improvement with the new drivers; you may even solve the problem that you are having.
