Screen sizes on desktop wallpaper 2

Hi. I used to have a bitmap that I used as my desktop. On it were the screen sizes for 15, 17, and 19 inch screens, (I believe). However, I cannot find it now. Does anyone know where I can find a good, accurate image that I can use as my desktop for developing and testing for different screen sizes / resolutions? I know I could make one, but I'd rather use an existing, tried and tru image.

Screen size in inches would refer to the physical dimensions of your monitor and not the resolution of a background image. Look at the screen resolution in Display Properties/Settings to see what size image you need in pixels then resize the image in a paint program to match the monitor settings.

Monitors that are large in size physically look best when you use one of the higher resolution settings. Conversely, things can get a little too tiny on small screens if you use the high resolution settings.

I normally use 640x480 on anything smaller than 15" and increase the size in steps until it "looks right."

Thanks algraff. I understand monitor size and resolution and how they work. I normally design for 15" monitors, myself. But I'm looking for a template of sorts that I can use as my desktop wallpaper that has the dimensions of different screen sizes on it (a square that's 640/480, one that's 800/600, and on that's 1024/768,) and then I can just resize the actual browser window by dragging it to the correct size outline. Hope that makes sense. This woud probably be a bitmap image.
