Screen Saver Issue

I am running WindowsXP Pro and have been for years. But I have run into problem. The system when left unattended for a time will hang. The only change I've made was to update McAfee. So I removed it and reloaded it. I did a system restore, going back to previous dates when the problem did not exist but to my surprise it still occurs. I removed the screen saver, one of the MS Screen savers and the problem no longer exists. Please don't recommend don't use a screen saver. Has anyone seen and solved this problem? TIA.

Don't use a 3-D screensaver.

I have had a similar problem I disable power management in bios, and it solves the problem 99.9%.

Never give up never give in.

There are no short cuts to anything worth doing
