Here is the problem. I have a Windows XP SP3 pro (Novell client and zenworks installed) pc patched up to tadays date. For some reason the screen saver will not turn on when it's suppose too. I've set it for 1 min, 3 min, 10 min. tried different sceen savers. Like mystify, pipes etc.. with no luck. I can preview the SS with no problems. I've check the registry (In regards to the Screen saver) everything is in order.
I have approprite rights.
There is no GP set. Even if i set a local GP it still doesn't work.
My ketboard and mouse are wired into the PC.
I've uninstalled the video drivers and tried with no luck. i re-install the video driver with no luck...
I did notice something after i re-imaged the pc. If i log into the PC with one of the user accounts that the image was built with the screen saver works. If i log into the PC with a new user account, it won't work.
If the PC is at the login prompt, the screen saver works.

The reason why i need the screen saver to work is to have the "on resume, password protect".

I hope this makes sense.

thanks for the help.

Well, I logged into the pc with one of the accounts that the image was built with and copied the profile over to the default users and then logged in with a new user and it works... something with the profile.. So then i checked the registry and compared it to another pc that is having the issue and the registry entries are indentical both in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Control Panel>Desktop and the HKEY_USERS>.Default>Control Panel>Desktop.

still working on it...

Are the access permissions for the registry keys also giving the flaky user at least read access?

Have you tried running ChkDsk on the hard drive?

Well, i never figured this one out. So what i'e been doing is logging in as the one of the admin accounts that was already on the image and setting up profile the way i wanted it and making that the default profile. So then i have to go and back up the user's data and delete their profile and log them back in and restore there data. Yea, I know it's crappy work around. But it works.
