I know this question has been asked before, but I have tried all the suggested solutions with no luck :-(
The windows are to big for my screen! I have changed the settings in XF86Config and using ctrl-alt + or - does not change anything even though the XF86Config says there are various alternatives.
I only have a 14" monitor and a basic 4mb graphics card could this be the problem, what are the minimum specs for running x windows.

Hi,

Are you sure you edited the correct config file. For example on redhat with XFree86 4.x.x it would be :

/etc/X11/XF86Config-4

Check for possibles with :

locate XF86Config

Regards

Hi

Thanks for the reply

I think so the I have edited both the XF86Config and the XF86Config-4 which are in /etc/X11/.
The section under "Screen" lists the graphics card and the monitor name of "Monitor0", there are various "Display subsections with different colour depths and numerous "Modes" of display.

Thanks
