Be forewarned, I am a Linux administration newbie.
I have installed Debian, and have Gnome and KDE installed and working. My problem is that when I start X (KDE of Gnome), the screen position on my monitor changes drastically. I have to make monitor adjustments in order to see the whole screen and center it properly.
That wouldn't bother me so much, as I am using XDM (user logs directly into KDE or Gnome), but I like to use the console sometimes too. Is there a way to configure the X server to make it so I don't have to adjust my monitor?
Oh, and don't crucify me, but this would also make things simpler when I have to boot to Windows.
Thanks!
