I have a Gateway P-IV Model 500x running windows XP. When booting up I get the BIOS Splash screen (the one that says GATEWAY) and then things go blank or black if you will. I have tried booting into Safe Mode & I get the same results. I have remove the Video card and tried the on-board video adapter and get the same results. I have gone into Setup and changed the Video Preference from AGP to PCI and back again with the same results.

Anything else I should be trying? Please & Thank You in advance!!

Assuming that the PC appears to continue to load Windows (hard drive activity and front panel lights) then you first need to try another monitor.

I put the XP CD in the machine ran Recovery Console and the computer booted up and stays in XP for awhile and restarts itself. So the monitor thing works but now I have the re-booting to deal with! Aren't computers wonderful!!

Hmm but how can you be so confident that your GPU causes these problems? In fact, you tested two different GPUs on two different interfaces (AGP,PCI) and both give you the same results.

When did these issues start? The symptoms you describe could be caused by a thousand different problems. Maybe its time to re-install your OS.
