Very suddenly, the colors on the screen of my old eMac are washed out and messed up. Before I lug the heavy thing to a repair shop, can someone give me an idea what this might be? Tube going? Card? I am not very tech savvy about hardware.

I have a new iMac, so don't want to put a lot into the old one.

Go to apple menu/system preferences. Then click on Displays. Then click on color. You should see emac in the list of display profiles, on left make sure it's selected. Then click the Calibrate button and follow the instructions.

See if that helps.

Using OSX 10.3.9 & 10.4.11 on a G4, G5 & Intel Macbook
