Through a process of backup and restore, I ended up with a conflict of Major Numbers for a couple of different drivers (agp and tun). Neither of these drivers are of importance to our system (to the best of my knowledge). But, because of the conflict, I'm unable to properly relink a kernel, which is required to install oss711a.

What is the recommended method to resolve my major-number conflict? Is it as easy as modifying the /etc/conf/ mdevice.d/tun (or agp) text file and change the specified major-number? How does the system keep track of which majors are in use when you add a new driver? I believe older SCO systems had a "majorsinuse" file.
