I am trying to set up SCO Vision FS. I did it over a year ago, but am having problems remembering a few things.

I have the newest version installed and have verified it is running. I seem to remember something in all the white papers being in reverse order or something. I had a similar problem getting WIN NT & 2000 machines "mounted" on the SCO side. (which is really the only thing I need...I don't need the Win machines to get to the SCO box, but I need to SCO box to see the Win shares on about 10 machines)

Can anyone give me a "precise" exact method on getting the Windows machines loaded?? I have the passwords set correctly on both sides ( I think anyways) including changing the Win machines to "unencrypt" passwords, etc

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi , these are the steps to follow:

First at all you must create a directory with the name smb on the root filesystem and then use the scoadmin filesystem manager to share that directory via NFS.

type

scoadmin => filesystem manager => select Export =>NFS => add export configuration , and then just tell the name of the directory to export which will be in this example smb.

TO SET UP SCOVisionFs SMB client

1 login as root on the unix host

2 type the folloing command

*vision_dir/bin/visionfs clientadmin --setup

3 follow the instructions on your screen

*vision_dir is the directory in which you install visionfs

PASSWORDS AND SCO VisionFs SMB Client

Now it is time to tell visionfs smb client the name and passwords of the users on the windows machines one for each user.

1 as root type
vision_dir/bin/visionfs client --wizard

2 follow the instructions

... and how to access ?

log into the unix box with the user that you put steps before and go to the smb directory.

Now if i want to list the shared folders on a PC ariare , just type:

ls /smb/username/ariare

that is all

All this information is available in the shared folder visiontools and look the help file.

I hope this can help !!!
