When installing SCO version 6.0 on a Dell Vostro 260 machine with 4 GB RAM, the screen image is presented in a compressed format (it is confined to the top 1/3 of the monitor), and while it is legible, it is obviously corrupt and not useable. I'm thinking it's a driver issue with the video chipset. But, the strange part is that when the initial install screens and SCO splash screen are presented, everything looks and acts normal. Only after it goes to the CD and starts reading the initial boot data does it garbage up the screen.
Is there some pre-boot setting such as the PSM=atup (for the usb keyboards), that would get it to recognize the graphics card differently than it currently does? Could it be an issue with upper memory? I've used the older Vostro and it worked fine, as has the PowerEdge T310. But this model seems to have a different chipset (Intel HD) and a different BIOS (aptio - american megatrends) therefore, I have no control over the video thru the BIOS . It is what it is.
I'd appreciate any input or suggestions. Or, even if you've experience the same type of issue.
Thanks,
piperent
