i installed unixware 7.0.1, and am hosting a couple different domains. I didn't use the viertual domain manager because i couldn't get it to "behave" as i thought it should. Am now trying to set up ftp access to these domains, and am having next to no luck with it. Am trying to not use anonomous access at all if i could. is this semi-intellegent? was wondering if some body could give me a quick how to from the command line, or even from the user manager buttons. am pretty well lost at this point!
thanks in advance

Are you trying to ftp as root? This is denied by default so you need to remove deny root fron the machines tou are trying to ftp to.(scoadmin-n/w-ftp manager)
Hope this helps

no, I realize i can't ftp as root. Have got it kinda sorta set up now, but am REALLY unsure if i'm going about it correctly. What i've done so far is to set up a class with all the accounts as members of it. This seems to work, however when any one user ftp's in, they can see the entire directory with all the other ftp accounts. being the unix novice i am, I'm not sure weather i should be setting up a class with all of the accounts, or making them members of a guest group, or if i should be using the ftp admin and setting up virtual ftp domains. the question with the latter is how do i assign a user to it? I'm trying to avoid anonomous ftp access. am pretty confused, and any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks !

7.0.1 is pretty old. Consider upgrading to UW 7.1.1 or the new Open Unix 8.

Regular accounts on SCO OS's are by default granted FTP access - just 'login' as an existing user through your FTP client.

You could setup a special 'user' under UW and restrict access the the 'users' home directory and and sub-directories.
