Or is my only way to solve it -> re-install sco?

Do you have an emergency boot set? If so you may have a chance. Ed Fair

Yes, but you must have the boot/root floppy set.

If you do have them:

boot system using boot/root floppies.

at prompt type following commands:

mount /dev/hd0root /mnt (hit enter)

/mnt/bin/chroot /mnt /bin/su root -c passwd root (hit enter)

Enter new root password

umount /mnt (hit enter)

haltsys

remove root/boot disks and cycle power on server

Hi....
Presently I am practicing sco-unix.once I tried out to recover the passwd assuming that I've lost it.I did the following procedure:
1.Boot the system with the unix boot floppy
2.then inserted root floppy when prompted
3.At the # prompt, I typed:
# mount /dev/hd0root /mnt
then i found that I couldn't able to use any command except ls.
Now what should I do so that I can use all the commands
please guide me

thanks
